Keeping a
Travel Journal
|
Whether you are travel to overseas for a couple of months or spending
a long weekend in a neighboring city, keeping a travel journal can be
a wonderful idea. It doesn’t have to be fancy, expensive or complicated
but it can provide you with a lifetime of memories of your trip. Sure
there are some aspects of your trip that you may never forget but remembering
particular details such as street names, historic dates or other significant
facts could be more difficult. For this reason, it is advisable that
you take many pictures and keep a journal while you are on your trip.
This will give you a way to accurately recall the events of your trip.
A notebook sized journal is an excellent idea if you plan to insert
pictures into your journal to create a kind of scrap book of your adventure.
Consider choosing a book that is large enough for pictures but small
enough to fit comfortable in your backpack or purse so that you can
keep it close at hand during your adventures. This will make it extremely
convenient to pull out your journal each time you want to record a specific
event or document a certain part of your trip. When you take pictures,
record the location and date that the picture was taken as well as any
other significant facts about the landmark. Also, leave a space in your
journal to add the picture in later so that it appears directly above
or below your comments.
If you wish to just maintain a literary record of your travels, you
might find a pocket sized notebook to be extremely useful. This is extremely
portable and you can easily carry it with you wherever you go so that
you don’t miss a single thing. While you may be tempted to write down
every detail of your trip and it is a good idea to record as much as
possible, do not get so caught up in writing about your adventures that
you fail to thoroughly enjoy them.
Another journal method for travel is to keep your journal in your hotel
room and write about the day’s adventures at the conclusion of the day.
This may not be the best option if you are looking for accurate records
of where you went and what you saw because even by the end of the day
you may have forgotten some details. This option, however, is ideal
for those who are looking to create a memory of their thoughts and feelings
while on vacation.
Another fun journal idea is to keep a record of those who you meet while
on vacation. You could consider taking pictures of each person you meet
and getting their name and address so that you can exchange pictures
and letters in the future. This is a great way to create lasting friendships
while you are on vacation.
Whatever journal option you choose, it is important to remember that
the method that works best for you is the method that you should use.
If you are adept at conveying the feelings and emotions of the day then
you might prefer a journal that is more based on emotion. Conversely,
if you are better at recording details and remembering locations and
dates you might choose a more detail orientated journal.

How
I get free airline tickets & travel on a shoestring
budget...
|
Myth:
Cheapest fares are always found online.
Truth:
Wrong. Many of the wholesale airline contracts are prohibited
from being marketed on a website. If you're only searching Expedia,
Orbitz, Travelocity and the like, you're not seeing all the
really discounted fares that are available.
Myth:
Buying direct from the airlines is good.
Truth:
Wrong again. You just eliminated the possibility of buying a
consolidator airfare, which is almost always cheaper than anything
the airlines offer, and, the cheapest airfare are sold
only by travel agencies.
Myth:
The airlines sell off unsold seats cheap at the last minute.
Truth:
This myth can cost you big time or the cancellation of your
plans if you're not willing to pay the exorbitant price the
airlines want to extort from you. Believing this myth proves
you have no clue about the airlines' distribution system.
