Kit for When You Travel
It is always a good idea to bring along a few emergency provisions when
you are traveling by car. You may never need any of these items but
in the event that you do, you will be extremely happy to have brought
along this kit. It can be a real life saver in an emergency situation.
The items that you pack along may vary by season or you may maintain
a constant kit that includes provisions for all seasons. In addition
to the medical items that you include in this kit, you should also stock
your car with items for car emergencies such as a spare tire, tire iron,
jack and other equipment.
An emergency doesn’t have to be big and it can be an item that you leave
in your car so that it is always there when you need it. Depending on
what you would like to include in the kit you might even be able to
make it small enough to fit into your glove compartment. There are a
few basic items that should be included in emergency kits for all seasons.
These items include, but are not limited to items for cuts, sprains,
allergies and headaches. For cuts you should include bandages, gauze,
medical tape and antiseptic. For sprains, you should include bandages
to wrap up the sprained joint. Antihistamines work well for allergies
and ibuprofen or aspirin is recommended for headaches. You should also
include and medications that you need for pre-existing medical conditions.
Before each trip you should check the expiration dates of all medicines
to ensure that they are not expired. You might also consider packing
bottled water and protein bars or other non-perishable food items in
case you become lost for an extended period of time.
The summer season may require a few additional items in your emergency
kit. You might wish to include tweezers for removing bee stings. Another
helpful item for the summer is sunscreen. Even the cloudiest days can
suddenly turn into bright sunshine leaving you in danger of being burned
if you do not have an emergency bottle of sunscreen. Lotions for rashes
and poison ivy are also extremely useful in the summertime.
The winter presents its own unique challenges and you might consider
a few items to include in a winter emergency kit. The possibility of
hypothermia exists in the winter so it is worthwhile to include a few
extra articles of clothing such as wool socks, down coats, hats, gloves
and even an extra sweater. This items are obviously too bulky to consider
for all seasons but they can be extremely useful in the wintertime.
An insulating blanket is another item to consider for your winter emergency
kit. These usually fold up to be very small but can provide a great
deal of protection against the wind or cold. You may also consider bringing
along a -20 degree sleeping bag in your car for emergencies. Nuts are
a great item to include in a winter emergency kit. Eating items high
in fat can help you to stay warm by activating your metabolism. You
should also carry along items for your car such as snow chains or a
shovel to dig your car out if you wind up in a snowdrift.
Traveling by car can be great fun at any time of the year but you should
always be prepared for the unexpected. Maintaining seasonal emergency
kits can help you out a great deal if you get into trouble while traveling

Cheapest fares are always found online.
Wrong. Many of the wholesale airline contracts are prohibited
from being marketed on a website. If you're only searching Expedia,
Orbitz, Travelocity and the like, you're not seeing all the
really discounted fares that are available.
Buying direct from the airlines is good.
Wrong again. You just eliminated the possibility of buying a
consolidator airfare, which is almost always cheaper than anything
the airlines offer, and, the cheapest airfare are sold
only by travel agencies.
The airlines sell off unsold seats cheap at the last minute.
This myth can cost you big time or the cancellation of your
plans if you're not willing to pay the exorbitant price the
airlines want to extort from you. Believing this myth proves
you have no clue about the airlines' distribution system.
